About Hadaway

Allen C. Hadaway, P.E.

Allen Hadaway grew up in the oil and gas business. His father, William Hadaway, was an independent geologist for most of his career, and Allen spent many summers and weekends with his father on drilling rigs.

He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a BS in Petroleum Engineering in 1982, and he roustabouted, roughnecked and drilled while putting himself through college, which included working offshore gulf coast as a derrick man on semi-rig. Upon graduation, he hired on to Mesa Petroleum in Amarillo, TX for 3 years as a drilling and completion engineer in the mid-con. After leaving Mesa, he worked for C.W. Kelley Jr., Inc. for 5 years as a drilling and completion engineer again in the mid-con. In 1990, Allen established Hadaway Engineering, Inc. and in 2011, he formed the Hadaway Consulting and Engineering, LLC partnership where he served as a managing member until March 2019.

During his long career, Allen has drilled thousands of horizontal wells throughout the mid-continent area in formations to include the Cleveland, Granite Wash, Tonkawa, Dolomite, Cottage Grove, Atoka, Morrow, Barnett Shale, Marmaton, Kansas City, Hepler, San Andres, and many others. He has vast experience in completions of cased hole and open hole packer systems, and he has worked on wells with SITP of 12,500 psig and 22,000′ in depth.

Allen has extensive experience in drilling, completion, and production of vertical and horizontal wells in the mid-continent area and is currently a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

Jonathan P. Frederick, P.E.

Jonathan Frederick is one of three managers and a partner of Hadaway Consulting and Engineering, LLC. He currently engineers and supervises drilling, completions, workovers, production and regulatory for any type of well in the mid-con region.  In March 2010, prior to his most recent position, Frederick joined Hadaway and consulted as the Drilling and Completions Supervisor for Hadaway Engineering, Inc—the predecessor to Hadaway Consulting and Engineering, LLC. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

A mechanical engineer with a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University, Frederick began his career in May 2006 working as a Field Engineer in Schlumberger’s Drilling & Measurements segment and in 2008, he was promoted to the position of Drilling Engineer for the Mid-continent region of the United States. By the time he left Schlumberger, he was the stuck pipe prevention and recovery champion.

Darrell L. Narron

Starting out in the wellhead division of FMC/OCT, Darrell worked in all phases of the deep Anadarko basin with wellhead equipment up to 20,000 psig. In 1980, he began work with Halliburton and was the youngest person to break out as an Engineer on a wireline truck. Working from Louisiana to Pismo Beach, California, and from the Laguna Madre in the Texas Coast to Illinois, Darrel logged and perforated thousands of wells from 600’ to over 29,000’ that showed pressures up to 15,000 psig. The last 5 years of his 20-year career, he was the Mid-Continent Engineer at large. Helping with design of new trucks, processes, prototype equipment, troubled and high profile jobs as well as training.

In 2000, he joined Hadaway Engineering, Inc. as one of two partners. Responsible for up to 10 drilling rigs and corresponding completions. Darrell drilled some of the first Dolomite and Cleveland horizontals in the Anadarko basin and followed up by fracing these with the first packer plus type systems.

In 2011, Hadaway Consulting and Engineering formed and Darrell is now one of three managing partners. Darrell has been in the business for 39 years, and thinks outside the box when addressing problems. He is known to work on wells most people read about in trade magazines.

Neal Earle, BSME

Neal Earle joined Hadaway Consulting and Engineering in 2013 as a drilling engineer. He holds a B.S. degree from West Texas A&M University in Mechanical Engineering (2006). Neal became a partner in HC&E in 2015, and he is currently working to become a licensed Professional Engineer.

Prior to joining the Hadaway group Neal worked for BJ Services / Baker Hughes pumping services divisions as an Associate Engineer, Field Engineer, and District Technical Supervisor. He has extensive training in Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics (acid and fracture stimulation design and Quality Control as well as primary and remedial cementing design and laboratory testing), Mechanical Rock Properties (Open-Hole and Cased-Hole log interpretation and frac modeling) and has attended schools for Horizontal Extended Reach Drilling, Drilling Fluids and geo-steering, all of which he uses regularly for HC&E clients.
